Peace House Ypsi
“Peace House Ypsi is a house of hospitality in the tradition of Dorothy Day, Peter Maurin and the Catholic Worker movement. Our mission is simply to love. By providing hospitality, nonviolently resisting injustice and living in solidarity with those on the margins we are building the world we envision by living it. A world where, in the words of Peter Maurin, “it is easier to be good.”

Washtenaw County CPUSA
“Members of the Communist Party USA are dedicated to helping advance the day-to-day struggles of the working class and all people on the road to a socialist USA.
The struggles for the immediate demands and reforms needed by working people today are essential steps toward our ultimate goals of the revolutionary transformation of society and the economy, toward socialism and then communism. The constant battles over issues large and small are where workers learn the lesson that more fundamental changes are necessary and that people need socialism to have a truly humane society.”

Care Based Safety
“Navigating life’s intricate fabric, choices unfold paths to the extraordinary, demanding creativity, curiosity, and courage for a truly fulfilling journey.”Care-Based Safety is dedicated to acting with principle and intention. We are taking careful steps in building a community response program that brings loving, unarmed support to people directly impacted by structural violence – without police. In our planning, response, and practice we center the needs of people who are Black, Indigenous, undocumented, unhoused, LGBTQIA+, using drugs, and/or experiencing mental health struggles. “

Membership FAQ
Q: What does it cost to be a network member?
A: Network membership is currently free.
Q: Do members need to attend every monthly meeting?
A: No, as an organization we understand the multiple demands on community organizers. We endeavor to provide robust notes that will keep you in the loop. We do ask that you read the notes completely each month.
Q: Do you offer a hybrid option for monthly meetings?
A: Yes, zoom attendance is available. However, we cannot always guarantee the best quality experience via this route, varying with the size and location of the meeting and the technology available. We will continue to evolve in our understanding of how to conduct high quality hybrid meetings, and do our utmost with the resources we have available in the meantime.
Q: Can I join the HSN? Can I invite a person or group to participate in HSN?
A: Yes, we welcome new organizations and community advocates working to serve those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Please reach out to the HSN facilitator for a one-on-one and membership onboarding.
Q: How do I leave HSN?
A: We are a voluntary organization and participation can be terminated at any time by providing written notification to the facilitator.
Q: Can an organization have more than one HSN representative?
A: Yes, we understand that having multiple representatives increases the likelihood that your organization can attend more meetings.
Q: Where can I find (x) information?
A: The most central location for information at this moment is our linktree, which can guide you to resources like our social media, forms, facilitator appointment scheduling and contact info, and more.
Q: Who runs the HSN?
A: The HSN is a project of Journey of Faith Homelessness Ministries and the closely associated 501(c)3 non-profit A Servant’s Heart. Operations are managed by a contracted facilitator, currently KJ Pedri. Decisions and actions are a collaborative effort among network members, including the facilitator and our sponsoring organizations.
Q: Is HSN a religious group?
A: HSN is closely affiliated with religious institutions, but is not itself a faith-based organization.
